No, no! It was a Quake 2 MOD called Resurection, and it involved all of the characters from the past iD games ; it had four portions, a Wolf3d, Doom, Quake, and Quake 2.

It had completely rehashed maps from the original games, all the original enemy models (3d models, not sprites), the original hero skins and models, all of the weapons, and a nicely done HUD. I've still got an original copy of the exe, and it still works.(iD shut them down because of copyright violations, and several other clones have since sprouted up)
