Well.. I didn't mean to come down so hard on ya. I think someone pissed in my corn flakes yesterday or something. Hobeaux was right, your post was well thought out. ASCII can be misleading, and, because I made the mistake of playing in a UT clan for a while, I've become pretty sensitive to the whole platform issue. (The amount of mac-bashing that goes on in the UT community is pretty scary hehe).
: The title, well, I guess it may have been incorrect, but
: I was pointing out some basic critizisim (as an author
: examining a story, nt an FPSer judging gameplay or
: such), so at the time I felt it fit.
Fair enough.
: And The only reason I want Marathon is I want to
: EXPERIENCE it in whole, not just its storyline or
: snippets of people sayin' the 2.5 graphics will
: dissapoint... arg. I still LAN Doom and Quake, so it
: goes without sayin' that I dinnae gie a wee f00k about
: th' graphics.
Cool :-) There was a recent post on the Marathon Story Page about a PC user that wanted to experience Marathon on the PC. It's going to be a bit tricky, but I think the process was explained pretty well by someone more knowledgeable than me. I really have no idea what the current SDL Aleph One build is like, but I can tell you that AO http://opensource.bungie.org will be the "real" thing with improved graphics. To play M2 and Minf, you'll need to buy the games to get the maps/shapes/sounds files. You'll also need to rig up your PC to read a Mac CDROM... like I said, check the Story Page forum.
: Ahem.
: And I only plan on playin' MP version of the Ressurection
: till I can buy the orig., so I can experience it the
: way Bungie (and maybe Durandall) intended.
Nah, you should play the three M:R solo levels if you're gonna take the plunge. :-)

P.S. You'll notice something a bit different about the AO beginning... it's just an "inside" joke of sorts. The "real" Marathon starts off the same way that the M:R version does.
: I belive everyone has an opinion, wether or not it was a
: flame. Just another preference, I guess.
: I'll be lookin' for the book to go with my copy of Halo.
: (Yes, jesus, I have it...)
