SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

I'm not so sure about this. Apogee made some great Doom-alikes that could have been real solid; the only problem was they made more mistakes than iD developing.
Now Apogee is reduced to a branch company for 3dRealms(or the other way around. Anyhow, it ain't makin' 'em much m00lah.), working on the theoretical DN:Forever.
iD succeded mostly because they would upgrade the version of the game (you had to buy it again, of course), while Apogee released the games they had in mind and merely abandoned them - totally.
At least Bungie made a connection between Halo and Marathon (no matter how subtle), and I'd be glad to know, if someone can tell me, if Bungie would/did update the versions (either comercially, or sending you a disk when you registered the program) of it's games.
