But id has set guidelines as to what restrictions we are expected to place on ourselves. Generations, as far as v.98 goes, is in broad, direct, and clear violation of nearly all of these guidelines, in virtually every aspect."
You're right about the terms of their demise -- they were literally just copying and pasting models, images, and sounds (yes, I've played it too), which would have eventually landed them in some deep shit -- but the actual shutting down was of their own volition.
Sorry I'm going on about this, but this is probably the one thing about the mod community that I wish people would get straight.
I do vaguely recall a(n exclusively) Doom conversion with "Resurrection" in the title which purportedly was in fact C&D'ed by id. But again, we didn't have anything to do with this. (As far as I'm aware, it had nothing to do with Generations, either.)
