SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

I just finished playin' three hours (nonstop), and since I can't compare it to the original, I'll unwittingly compare it to my beloved Doom.
The first thing that struck me was the mouselook. Doom had to wait for the Doomsday Engine, and LegacyDoom to have this as an option.
Next was the alt. Fire, which Doom STILL doesn't have to this day (Doom3 may change that), and would've benifited from.
Then the HUD, and the Motion Detector.
Doom greatly needed something like this, and the motion screen helps alot in those dark corridors.
But what got me right here (taps chest above heart several times) was the consoles; my God in Heaven, now I know why this game is addictive: I kept playing, just to see that next console.
(Having read the story page all the way through before playing took some of the wind from my sails, but not much.)
I'm now reading 'The Fall of Reach' and it is quite the action-book. Nice little story to go along with it (the Naval battles in space are awesomely done in this one), and I cannot wait to see what Deitz does with future installments.
