: Here's some of my ideas that I would like to work on if I
: join Team Unphforgivn.
Let's hear 'em!
: MAIN SCREEN - I think the main opening needs a HUGE
: OVERHAUL. Those desktop images that is on the
: Resurrection site seem more than adequet for an
: impressive opening screen. My favorite is Maniac's
: white & blue one. The blue sun one would look
: great, too. That would sure make things look more
: sharp.
Yes, it does, but we're working on the actual game right now.
: SOUNDEFFECTS - Some of the sounds ported from the
: original Marathon are unnecessary when we could use
: the same sounds from M2 or MInfinty (which sound a
: whole lot better). For example, the S'pht attack
: sounds currently sound like an old Atari game. I also
: have a collection of sounds from Cowboy Bebop. These
: aren't low quality, held-a-mic-to-the-tv sounds. These
: are direct line-in digital recordings at CD quality,
: isolated to use for customized placement.
Interesting...
: VOICE RECORDINGS - I've directed an entire cast for my
: original anime movie. I have the equipment, software,
: and know-how to bring a new level of BOB sounds.
Wow.
: TERMINALS - Okay. In 2002, with the current technology,
: Marathon's terminals are just plain bland and boring.
: I want to create quicktime animations for terminal
: logos and side images (ie, a 3d animated, tech-system
: logon/logoff for the Marathon networks, Durandal,
: Leela, and Tycho.) If quicktime becomes too large of a
: file format, then perhaps we could integrate Flash
: into the terminals. I have Flash-MX by Macromedia, and
: can develop elaborate terminal designs. If we would go
: with Flash & Quicktime, this could really be a
: powerful combination, utilizing interactive menus and
: enhancing the boring reading part of Marathon. Let's
: face it, some people just want carnage. (I personally
: enjoy the story, but in this day & age, green text
: just doesn't cut it anymore).
If you can find a way to import those animations into Unreal Tournament, great!
: If we create eye-catching terminals that are fun and
: graphically beautiful, then we can enhance the
: understanding and illustration of Marathon's story
: beyond even Bungie's accomplishments! I am willing to
: lead this terminal overhaul project. I just need to
: know if we can program Unreal Tournament to utilize
: Flash (or at least Quicktime animations!)
: MUSIC - I've spent the last two years on a massive techno
: album. I think it would fit well with Marathon.
: They're in MP3 format, and can be compressed more
: (right now, they're at a premium compression). I just
: bought Unreal Tournament a few days ago (so I could
: play M:R), so I have no idea how UT level-building
: works. I heard Unreal's music and it didn't sound like
: cheezy MIDI to me, it sounded like a compressed .wav
: or mp3 of a professional music track (even though its
: in its own format already). I hope Unreal can utilize
: mp3 or someone on Team Unphforgivn can convert mp3 to
: whatever Unreal would hence use.
Show us your stuff.
: You can listen to my music at my studio's website:
I'll check it out.
: I recommend them all and want to contribute them all,
: royalty free of course. Just so long as I get credit.
: I think they fit the style of Marathon perfectly.
: I'm dead serious- Resurrection's current soundtrack makes
: the game seem more cheezy than it really is. I could
: never get music to work on my old Mac when I first
: played Marathon, and I'm thankful. I'm a hardcore
: Marathon fan, and I don't want to abuse the series.
: So, I promise the music I'm suggesting that we use now
: would not cheapen the experience. I strongly believe
: it would enhance it ten fold!
: Be sure to check out these tracks in this recommended
: order-
: 01. Slipstream 02. Ultra 03. Electric Sheep 04. Transit
: 05. Frost 06. The Technique
: Electric Sheep was based off of Philip K. Dick's book,
: but you can be sure that Marathon - Infinity had
: something to do with it!
: I know absolutely no programming, but I do know 3DS Max 4
: ($3500), which I have. Other programs that I have in
: my studio are Photoshop 7, Bryce 5, Cubase VST32,
: Office XP Pro, AfterEffects 5.0, Poser 4 Pro,
: Quicktime 6 Pro, and many other useful tools.
: I am willing to tackle everything that I've suggested,
: aside from programming, on my own. Any help would be
: appreciated (REALLY appreciated), but I would
: definitely want to lead the terminal overhaul
: project's design.
: Tell me what you think! If anything, let's make some
: fresh, high-quality still images for those bland
: terminals!
That's the thing. Importing said animations would be ultra-cool, but we need to code them into the game. As for sounds and effects, please record some new ones that you think would fit and E-mail either myself or the Interactive Graphics department.
Hope to hear from you.
