I get where you're coming from. Anyway, later tonight I'll take a stroll through the texture files and see what I can turn up.
As far as switches and terminals ... Well, I think regarding animated textures I'm only going to do, maybe 3-4. 2 being the Terminal and the Pattern Buffer, and maybe which ever other ones look like they wouldn't be too much trouble and might be good for decoration purposes. I don't really want to do switches, and frankly they're a big pain to deal with anyway... I hate dealing with movers.
Since Terminals and Pattern Buffers are just plain polygon faces though, it's no more difficult to change the textures than to ... change the textures. Assuming all the maps were in one place and otherwise finished, it's something that could be done in two hours, tops.
: Unfortunately there's a whole host of issues when it
: comes to using non M:R content, particularly visual
: stuff like textures. Most of the issues revolve around
: things such as authenticity, authorization for use,
: re-distribution rights etc, as well as issues of
: consistency.
: Basically, M:R is meant to be as self-containted as
: possible. M:R should only rely on 3 things: - original
: Bungie permission to re-create and re-distribute their
: content in a way that reflects favorably on them
: - self-reliance of completed M:R content
: - authorized use of Epic/Atari resources for
: re-distribution
: I'm being particularly picky about all this because M:R
: has had, and probably will continue to have a very
: high profile in the gaming community, and it will
: always reflect the practices of the people that were
: involved in the project over the years. I'd personally
: be picky about it even if it weren't high-profile, but
: this position allows us to be a good community
: example.
: So bottom line, original M:R content is important for
: self-reliance and authenticity, as well as
: consistency. I would prefer to shy away from any stuff
: that wasn't specifically created, as an original piece
: or used with _express and explicit_ permission for it.
: Now as far as animated switches and terminals..if we did
: that, we'd have to go and change all the other SP and
: MP maps with all that stuff, and I think we're beyond
: that point. It is a good idea, mind you, but if we
: want to release this soon it's too much to undertake.
: Don't get me wrong, I think you're doing fantastic work,
: and I don't want to discourage you or impede you, but
: we need to be able to work and present and distribute
: these within some important parameters.
: You're doing great, by the way, and thank you for all
: this effort. We obviously need the help
