SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

In Response To: Re: Jumping and Other things (Running Target)
I'm torn between the two.
On one hand I want to preserve the difficulty of all the maps (although I wouldn't be devastated if I could just jump past Colony Ship For Sale). Jumping past some things could be just plain cheap, as I can already see in the single player demo.
On the other hand, I always found it really silly in Marathon that you floated instead of jumping. I've been wanting a modern recreation of Marathon for all these years - but that doesnt' just mean graphically, that also means getting a nice physics model with some nice, sensical jumping.
As Running Target said, I think it should be an option. People obviously have strong points on both sides. Make it an option, so that if you want to cruise through singleplayer in its pure old-school form, you can. But if for everyday play you want to jump, you can do that too.
