Q:
Why can't I open doors?
Q: Why don't I have fists?
Q: Why don't I have a motion detector?
Q: Why is my HUD just like the UT HUD?
A:
You are playing the wrong type. Unless you play one the of the M:R gametypes
When you start a game, from the "Game Type:" menu you must select
one of the following:
M:R Every Man For Himself
M:R King of the Hill
M:R Team EMFH
Q: Does my computer freeze when I try to install the umod?
A:
Your computer is not frozen - it's just thinking really hard. The umod
file is big and it takes the umod installer a while to digest it. Go get
a cup of coffe or take a leak (oops - was that inappropriate?) and it
should be ready to continue when you get back.
Q: Can I set my server to rotate gametypes automagically?
A:
Yes (starting with beta 1.1.1). Normally whem MR loads the next map from
the maplist, it overrides the map's default gametype by adding "?game=<gametype>"
to the map's name before launching it. However, if "?game="
already exists in the map name in the maplist in the UnrealTournament.ini
file, MR will launch the map as it is. Consider the following excerpt
from the .ini file:
[MarathonMOD.MarathonDMMaplist]
Maps[0]=DMMR-WrathNoMoreb8.unr
Maps[1]=DMMRK-BeyondThunderdomeb1.unr
Maps[2]=DMMRK-HouseofPainb2.unr?Game=MarathonMOD.MarathonKOTH
Maps[3]=DMMR-WhatGoesUpb2.unr
MR will play MarathonDM (the name of the Every Man For Himself gametype)
through the first two maps, overriding whatever their gametypes were with
"?game=MarathonMOD.MarathonDM". When it gets to the third map.
MR will just run the map as it is, since it has it's own "?game=",
and the gametype will switch to King of the Hill (MarathonMOD.MarathonKOTH).
This will enter the MarathonKOTH maplist here:
[MarathonMOD.MarathonKOTHMaplist]
---> Maps[0]=DMMRK-HouseofPainb2.unr
Maps[1]=DMMRK-BeyondThunderdomeb1.unr?Game=MarathonMOD.MarathonDM
Maps[2]=DMMRK-EMBM2b5.unr
Maps[3]=DMMRK-WaldoWorldArenab1.unr
Once HouseofPain has played, MR will load the next map from the KOTH map
list. Since in this example is also has its own "?game=" the
gametype will switch back to Every Man For Himself, entering thye DM maplist
here:
[MarathonMOD.MarathonDMMaplist]
Maps[0]=DMMR-WrathNoMoreb8.unr
---> Maps[1]=DMMRK-BeyondThunderdomeb1.unr
Maps[2]=DMMRK-HouseofPainb2.unr?Game=MarathonMOD.MarathonKOTH
Maps[3]=DMMR-WhatGoesUpb2.unr
Now MR will is in a loop where it will bounce back and forth between playing
Every Man For Himself and King of the Hill. It should be noted that the
map WrathNoMore will be played once at the beginning only. The maps WhatGoesUp,
EMBM2, and WaldoWorldArena will never be played. To play all the maps
across both gametypes, the maplists in the .ini file should be set up
like this:
[MarathonMOD.MarathonDMMaplist]
Maps[0]=DMMR-WrathNoMoreb8.unr
Maps[1]=DMMRK-BeyondThunderdomeb1.unr
Maps[2]=DMMRK-HouseofPainb2.unr
Maps[3]=DMMR-WhatGoesUpb2.unr
Maps[4]=DMMRK-BeyondThunderdomeb1.unr
Maps[5]=DMMRK-HouseofPainb2.unr?Game=MarathonMOD.MarathonKOTH
[MarathonMOD.MarathonKOTHMaplist]
Maps[0]=DMMRK-HouseofPainb2.unr
Maps[1]=DMMRK-BeyondThunderdomeb1.unr
Maps[2]=DMMRK-EMBM2b5.unr
Maps[3]=DMMRK-WaldoWorldArenab1.unr
Maps[4]=DMMR-WrathNoMoreb8.unr?Game=MarathonMOD.MarathonDM
One more thing: if you edit the map lists from within UT, all extra goodies
(like the "?game=" statements you just added) will be wiped
out.
