Not really planning on using them as generic decoration, only in places where terminals/chargers already are. Mostly it's a way to give those features a more 3D look (I guess it's just me being perfectionistic).
There's also a practical reason in that animated textures have minor "flickering" issues on certain areas because the 10 different frames have slightly different palettes (This will probably go away when I merge their palettes, but at the same time will result in an overall loss of quality). It's not a problem with the screens and lights and so forth, but for the metallic frames around the screens, flickering isn't appropriate. Making them meshes preserves the quality of the original meshes while opening up options for animating the textures.
