SPEAK YOUR MIND

"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free to move?"

"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

Ok - I'm still downloading all the stuff I need to start mapping for you guys!!?!? 56K modems - gotta love them.

The UT1 engine is still what I would consider to be very powerful. When pushed it can far exceed what it was origionally intended to do - and although it will never handle textures in excess of 512x512 (correct me if I am wrong - but wasn't there a patch to 1024x1024?) you can still do some pretty stunning stuff on it. Before I knew about static meshes - some of my maps ended up with clipped polygons, but effective statics and textures can pull a UT1 map up to a very high graphical level. However, as far as gameplay, the game will always have the ability to be top notch. Netcode might be a little slow, but you can do nearly anything with it.

Of course you will never get to see the eyelids on a pfhor, but someone, please tell me, what sort of idiot would let them get that close, really? Still, I think M:R is a huge step up from the origional game, and I'm proud to say that I've been around for a small part of the ride.
