They satrted making this mod over 2 years ago before there was much else to use. Since then their have been better games out with better graphics, but it would take too much time and effort to port it into a new graphics engine. BTW have you even played the original or even 2 or inf? The graphics are MUCH better. Theyre 3D vs the old sprites, you can now jump, and so on and so forth.
P.S. im not involved in the development of this mod, these are just common sense arguments ive made.
