SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

: How about this: the dots represent what column to start
: in. The arrow is the direction. The symbol is the ROT
: to be applied on the letters?
Just tried that. I read x characters (let x be the number of dots) from the first letter on the line (or the last, if the arrow pointed left), in the direction of the arrow. Then I cycled the letters left for -, right for +, y times (let y be the number of sides on that line's shape). Here are the results.
AUWP rot -5 becomes FZBU
QUNEIV rot +5 becomes LPIZDQ
7PVNYHZZOVW rot -4 becomes 7TZRCLDDSZA
ACZPSLUAT rot +3 becomes XZWMPIRXQ
QVOHUULZNBUUHY rot +1 becomes PUNGTTKYMATTX
SQAYQ rot -1 becomes TRBZR
JNBUZHUKHTT rot -2 becomes LPDWBJWMJVV
Somehow, I don't think that was right. I also probably made mistakes, since I did it all by hand (well, you COULD write a program to do it for you, or something...) The question is, as you said, where do we start? All the symbols are used up. Man, they'd better not make us guess on this, that'd just be cruel. XD
