SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

Aw, shucks... Now I feel guilty. Especially since I'm just a fan of M:R and not affiliated with it in any way.
For me it's not a question of which is more engaging. I just hate to see web pages cluttered with ads, especially ads that blink and bounce and slide around, so I have Mozilla filter out ad images and Flash. I do miss out on the odd richly-presented web page, but for me (and randomer, and maybe some others) it's a worthwhile sacrifice. It sounds like a lot of the motivation for you is to get experience making a Flash site, so doing a rich dynamic web page in javascript or using nifty CSS tricks probably doesn't appeal; maybe you could disengage the content from the presentation so that you could choose "Flash version" or "Non-Flash version" on entry and have the content presented either as it is now or in the context of your work, depending? Or maybe there are only two people who care at all, and it wouldn't be a big deal to just disregard us and do it Flash-only anyway? Dunno. Whatever happens, viva Marathon and good luck with your portfolio development.
Cheers!
