I was planning on working on the maps in roughly the order you have here -- Probably work on #7 and then #5 (since I expect #5 to have more 5D space from what I remember of it)... If I finished those two it'd mean at least the first 11 levels done, which is pretty good. #5, #7 and #12 aren't in .t3d format on Fileball.net though, so I went ahead and started up with #14.
Everything looks pretty good here, as far as the basic geometry and texturing goes. I started placing monsters, but don't see either the exploding ticks or the flies under the Marathon monsters in the actor browser, and I know those are pretty prominent enemies on this map.
Lighting and ambient sounds shouldn't be too difficult, going to take a stroll through the level in M1A1 to see what that looks like... Then it's a bit of pathing and zoning, and then on to the scary parts: triggers & movers.
I've taken a look through the demo maps and am starting to understand a bit about how things are structured, please correct me if I'm wrong, although this is more for my own reference/benefit--
Pattern Buffers are a trigger with the event set to Pattern Buffer. There doesn't seem to be anything else to this. (From the way Shield Chargers and Terminals work, I am suspicious. Maybe there's a Pattern Buffer actor somewhere else in the level and not moved close to the trigger. Well, I'll see.)
Shield Chargers have a trigger, whose event calls a Shield Charger actor. The Shield Charger actor has a ShieldCharger field area to set the type.
Terminals work the same way, with a trigger whose event is set to the Terminal actor. Terminals have a lot of information in the Marathon Terminal field area that I guess I'll have to copy down from the game (Damn, I was hoping to avoid having to do that!)
Some actors I don't really understand --
BioFear -- This activates the monsters somehow, is my guess, but I'm not entirely sure how it works.
MarathonSecCam -- Not certain on his this works, obviously used for in-game shots of the levels when using the terminals. Still not sure how to set it up.
Enough for now.
