SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

: Permission? That's pretty silly...
: UT was made so we could Mod a M:R...
: M:R was made so you could Mod whatever you like.
Nicely put Lt.
You know, there are a lot of things where I wish M:R was different: M:R will probably always have the jumping (which I don't like), will always have dodging (which I don't like), we'll always have a supa-tight stop-and-turn radius (which I tolerate), will never have have those wonderful M1 physics, where everything seems to be in semi-zero G, and will always be a fast-paced game -- slower than UT granted, but quite a bit faster than regular Marathon.
And while there are plenty of arguments for and against the above, they, in the end, are simply a matter of taste. M:R never claimed to be a replica of the original.
Perhaps in the future, someone will make a "Marathon Pure" patch which will replicate gameplay to more exacting specs, but I'm grateful for what we have so far.
Oh, one last wish --- could you guys please consider implementing some strategy-oriented gametypes like CTF?
