: Suggestions: -You should add glancing. Wasn't that
: something that set Marathon apart from the rest of the
: FPS games?
I don't know if GLANCEing was in other FPS games, but it was pretty much the only thing that gave us keyboarders a chance against mousers. GLANCEing _CAN_ be implemented in M:R -- I posted on a couple of UT-Mod forums about it, and was told that it was possible. After a few failed experiments, I gave up and started mousing. If GLANCEing were made available for M:R, I'd seriously try keyboarding again -- I miss it, and still use it when playing Aleph/Regular Marathon. We just have to hope that some enterprising UT-Saavy person will one day implement it.
: -The automap was a very useful feature in Marathon. Is
: there a way to create one for M:R?
I really don't think so -- I think the M:R team has come up with an elegant compromise, however. Remember all those map screenshots you had when looking at certain Marathon terminals? Well, if you check out the Marathon terminals in the solo M:R levels, they give you a "security camera" POV, which, in my mind, works nicely is, if it's not Marathon-like, it reminds me a bit of Oni.
: -There should be multiplayer models for the alien
: species. Also, add more skins and faces to the models.
: Those two menus are currently blank (unless I didn't
: install it right...).
Do a search on the forums --- you'll notice that there was a contest for Marine skins a while back. Another thing -- Marathon|Rampancy has some pretty cool player models as well.
: Comments: -I think you should make the ammo readouts more
: like the ones in Marathon. The Pistol ammo looks like
: bullets just the bullets. You should make it look more
: like a cartridge. Watching the cartridges was more fun
: than watching numbers...
Look in your Preferences -> HUD. There are several HUDs available -- including one which is VERY similar to the original, and another HUD which is essentially the Marathon HUD with transparency. That, imho, surpasses the original HUD --- something I never thought possible. It's truly a work of art.
: -I'm not sure I like the new rifle design... Why didn't
: you keep the original one?
I don't mind the graphic so much, but its functionality (or lack thereof) is really starting to get to me.
: Questions
: -Is your project meant to make marathon look better, or
: are you also trying to add new things?
Don't forget TCP/IP (i.e., Internet) multiplayer.
: -I think there was something else I wanted to ask about,
: but I can't remember...
I feel your pain.
