I'm just going on memories here, but I think the assault rifle fires too slowly (if the numeric ammo count's correct).
I recall that the ammo, in graphical representation, chunked down as you fired, multiple bullets being shot for every sound it made. The one in the beta, however, fires only one bullet per sound/recoil animation.
Dang! I just realized I didn't use the motion sensor, I'll have to see if it reduces my deaths by 70% now *wave*
