The "green corridors" in the beginning of M1A1 is the ground (starting) level from Bungie's previous game Pathways, as most of you know. It's graphics and layout were inserted by Raul Bonilla as a fan-created way to tie the two games together (think of it as a dream sequence). I won't get into any of the plot/character speculation here as the Marathon Story page covers it much better. Suffice to say the Pathways intro does not exist in any of the original Marathon games made by Bungie.
I think an intro cutscene showing the Mirata shuttle being sabotaged by Durandal would be a nice addition, if there's time to work on it.
