Archive the forum - the whole story is there. We died due to lack of support, and all the good people getting bundled up in "fashionable" mods. Much of the game development data has been lost, but if I was going to make another marathon mod, I'd use UT1.
There is still a huge following for UT1, and it's just so damn simple. Plus, you can put vehicles in, you just cast to a different pawn type - like possessing the redeemer. But the build 937+ script is much more pliable and efficient. I don't like having to spend two weeks making one model though - I can make three UT1 models in that time.
Good luck re-kindling the project if you want, you can have all of the script I developed for M2003 and Meta.
