SPEAK YOUR MIND

"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free to move?"

"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

I am not talking about something as intricate as getting tripped in the foot or some other specific animation for getting shot in various parts of the anatomy. Simply, I'm saying that in the original Marathon, if you shot a pfhor fighter, it will stop moving for but a fraction of a second. This was enough to make a difference and I feel it was an important element of the original game that is lacking in Resurrection. In fact the only enemy in Marathon that was impervious to this was the hulk, owing to the fact that it was a badass.

: I personally liked the new behavioural routines built
: into the pfhor AI. At one stage I had attempted a
: reaction system with my own AI (get shot in the hand,
: and then shake your hand, or get tripped by a shot to
: the foot) and that proved to be an impressive piece of
: visual interaction. In saying that, the ability to
: hold your opponent back with gunfire does add much
: more strategy to the game.

: Like removing jumping.
