As I recall from the movie, the 7th chevron represented an Egyptian pyramid with a sun or moon above it. It acted as the point of origin for Earth. The other 6 chevrons represented 6 points in 3D (e.g. +x, -x, +y, -y, +z, -z). So the seventh represents were we start. Where we are right now. Or Earth.
