SPEAK YOUR MIND

"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free to move?"

"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

The simple answer: no.

The complex answer: UT plays tracked music, that is music that's composed in a tracker format (MOD, MAD, S3M, XM..pick your poison). To track music it's quite a different beast than an MP3 or whatnot. Tracked music work similar to MIDI, in the sense that there are instruments, and a score (patters) to create the song..thus, modifying the original MIDIs to a tracker format was possible and that's what did, with remastered instruments and other adjustements..the remastered versions are pretty good IMHO.

Otherwise, people these days don't track anymore..they have a lot of nice toys (synths, keyboards, drum machines etc) that they play their stuff on and record in MP3, this is easy, but impossible to turn into tracked music, since it's a different process altogether. Not only that, but as it is, those MP3s are huge, and UT would die trying to play them back, even with the curent version of the tracked music, it may still keel over..we'll have to see.
