Reloading Bug

There appears to be a problem with reloading. Say I empty my second Magnum or shotgun and have no clips to reload it... when I pick up a clip later, I expect it to either auto-reload, or reload as soon as I press the second trigger. But nothing happens: I have to switch to another weapon and back. After that, the weapon will reload automatically.
I'm not sure, but I think this only happens with weapons that come in pairs (Magnum, shotgun).
Also, why did you implement the Marathon 1 alien weapon rather than the Infinity one? The Marathon 1 version is not all that original; it works pretty much like the assault rifle sans grenades -- certainly doesn't warrant its position at the top of the weapon priority list.
The Infinity alien weapon was much cooler, it was markedly different from all other weapons, and could really spam a room full of fiery ringlets with large hit radii, while the fire damage added some extra psychological terror.
