The last comprehensive offering of vintage Heuer chronographs was Bonhams’s sale of the 82 vintage Heuer chronographs in the Haslinger collection, in December 2010. Okay, so it doesn't have a Tudor in-house movement, but nobody is perfect (not to mention that first of all, Tudor does a great job tweaking its falska richard-miller Klockor supplied movements and who knows, the in house movement may be in the next series – fingers crossed). So there you have it, the Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36 is my favorite watch thus far this year at Baselworld, and it just might be the sleeper hit of the entire show.Additionally, the Oystersteel reference comes with a price decrease, a surprise that will surely please fans of the model. Lange & Söhne yet. Where the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater was remarkable for being the first minute repeater with dual jumping hours and minutes, the Richard Lange Minute Repeater proves that A. Lange & Söhne can also tackle things the established way – while throwing in some new tricks for good measure.Time only, classic case shape, snowflake hands, and not a flaw to be seen. Tudor has emerged from the shadow of Rolex this past decade to produce some of the most popular watches in the world. The Black Bay 41 was launched in 2017 as part of the ever-expanding Black Bay line. It's a simple design meant to be the watch that can go to a more formal event or a day at the beach. With 150m of water resistance and the legendary ETA 2824 movement inside, this is not a watch that needs to be babied.The Cartier presentation is undoubtedly one of my favorite parts of the trade show. For 30 minutes everything in your immediate environment is colored red and gold and branded Cartier. From the presentation trays, to the notebooks and pencils down to the small espresso coffee cups placed delicately on their matching saucers. You're transported to the Cartier universe and for those few minutes it's just novelties, french accents, and getting good wrist shots that matter.
Now, there is nothing wrong with white gold, but of course a lot of folks feel that precious metal Rolex watches are a bit of a sideshow to Rolex watches as durable, accurate, and reliable technical watches, and a steel Pepsi GMT-Master II has been sorely missed. That means that so far they're the only ones we've had a chance to replica rolex horloges see in person but they're so sharp they should come with a warning to not cut yourself looking at them (a joke I stole from Kung Fu Panda, appropriately enough).The dichotomy of classic and modern on this dial is appealing to me, not just from a sheer aesthetic perspective, but because it feels so well thought-out. I mean, pairing something made of nanotubes with Breguet-style hands and a classic small seconds sub-dial is a wild idea. The Moser and The Armoury dream team have pulled it off, beautifully.While it would be easy to assume this contributes to a busy and cramped dial, especially in the 37.5mm case, in person I was surprised by how it didn't feel like it at all. With the way the cutouts of the ring date is designed, it essentially takes the place of a typical seconds track at the edge of the dial so nothing feels extraneous. Sure, two date indications may be unnecessary, but the execution here is quite well done and shockingly works.
