Collector's Weekly has an intriguing story about a young collector who bought his first watch online in 2014: a $20 Russian-made Raketa. In a hand-wound movement you don't have the additional visual clutter you get from the rotor and automatic winding system (a problem only partially addressed by micro and peripheral rotor designs).
The most exciting thing about this watch is the inner rotating bezel timer (in silver) that is turned via the crown four o'clock. The movement is the Oris automatic caliber 733, which is based on the Selita SW 200-1. Notice this isn't a stop-seconds chronograph, but rather a time-and-date model that can use the inner bezel for timing events.More recently, McLean has ventured into dressier wristwatches with a focus on Patek Philippe Calatravas, such as the reference 2463 that you see here (above). This watch measures 33mm across and is run by the hand-wound caliber 10‴ 200 movement. Like most collectors, McLean discovered that sometimes the smaller the watch, the bigger the statement.
