The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Chronograph With Black Dial
As you can guess by its Classic Fusion name, this is actually one of the more conservatively designed styles from Hublot, but it's definitely not your grandfather's watch. This chronograph features an open view of the movement inside, creating a three-dimensional effect that draws you in. At 45mm, it's large and sporty, but its titanium falsos breitling Relojes case ensures that it isn't too top-heavy on the wrist.I'll let you all venture out to your local theaters to experience the power of this watch on-screen for yourselves. To me, that's just nutty.It's a limited edition based on the Portuguese Hand-Wound ref. 5463 that was offered in both red and white gold, already one of IWC's more impressive watches from a technical perspective. For Brady's watch, IWC skeletonized the movement to create the caliber 98920, even changing the structure of the movement and its bridges to maximize the dramatic effect of the skeletonized movement. Back in 2015 when the IWC Portuguese Hand Wound Squelette was quietly offered, its MSRP was around $100,000.The case here is crafted from grade-5 titanium, resulting in an impossibly light package that delivers the goods. Notably, the dial is made from sapphire, and the dial arches are brushed and DLC-coated. There is a more retro-inspired blue variation to this design that harkens back to the Steve McQueen days without losing its modern look and feel. Key things to note on this one are the gradient blue finishes on the dial arches.
The Carl F. Bucherer Heritage Tourbillon Double Peripheral Limited Edition will be produced in a series of 88 watches world wide and US pricing is $88,888; both figures are an homage to the founding of Carl F. falska breitling Klockor Bucherer in 1888, which is a better than usual rationale for the often mystifying figures chose for the prices of high-end watches. It impressed us overall as a soberly well-executed version of an unusual and technically interesting modern tourbillon – look for it to appear in early 2019.This wasn't the only much-talked-about watch to sell at tonight's auction. Golf legend Jack Nicklaus's Rolex Day-Date fetched $1.22 million earlier in the night. The two watches garnered many comparisons over the last few weeks, mostly because they were offered in the same sale. So let's talk stone dials and take a minute to breathe, regroup, and realign our brains.What does that mean? Well to put it simply, when you start the chronograph, it will run very fast, covering about a third of the dial in 9.1 seconds (roughly 0-20 seconds of a traditional 60-second dial indication). All the while, the chronograph hand is actually slowing down as it circles the dial, getting slower and slower until it reaches the top of the dial and starts again at a fast speed. Why did they do it? What purpose does this serve? I’m not sure. But they did it anyway.

In this case, the watches placed in the stars and galaxies tie Citizen's Crystron watches into the larger conversation of space exploration and support the tech-forward positioning of the watch. This is punctuated further by sky-blue-colored Arabic numerals on the outer track. Then there's the blue cross-hair motif at the center, putting a stamp on this all-blue-everything look. A testament to classic watch design, the Classic Origin Blue features a small seconds subdial with a snailed seconds hand.One method was to make a test balance which beats at the correct frequency, which you use to check the performance of the balance spring and balance combination of a production watch. Once the approximately correct frequency was obtained, the final adjustment of frequency and rate was via the balance spring fine regulator, and adjustment of timing weights on the balance rim.
