This limited edition of only 24 watches comes with an elegant wristband made of chantilly-colored alligator leather.With a couple of exceptions, a mechanical movement is always more interesting to me than a quartz movement.The RL67 Ralph Lauren Safari models were introduced in 2013 as a sports-elegant, and relatively affordable, line of watches that would dovetail stylistically with Lauren's idealized view of the safari as a vehicle not for hunting, but rather for seeing new worlds and reconnecting with nature. (The word "safari" invariably makes me think of the Hemingway story The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber, but I think it's safe to say Ralph Lauren has something a little more upbeat in mind.)It's loveable and useful while being rather strange in both its proportion and appeal. While I might be giving myself Omega Seamaster a bit too much credit, maybe this is why the little Oris resonates so strongly with me.The rear of the watch features a stepped sapphire crystal shaped like a sports car's rear window, crowns that could easily be mistaken for car wheels, and even two parts under that rear crystal that could easily be mistaken for the valve cover on a V12. But the overall design is far more Ferrari 330 P4 or Dino 246 GT than Testarossa or Lamborghini Countach, which—if I put it that way—doesn't sound like a bad thing to me at all.
