SPEAK YOUR MIND

"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free to move?"

"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

Not for Unreal Tournament.

More modern engines with decent support for natural terrain could handle making Marathon 2 environments pretty easily, but there's a huge amount of asset creation that would be involved in getting anything like that to the point of level creation (and there's a lot more detail work in general that goes into a level -- but terrains would be pretty straightforward).

I'll add that I'd prefer to see a more interpretive approach taken if someone were going to do Marathon projects in any modern engine at this point in time -- There's a lot of scripted sequence stuff that you can do that wasn't available when the original maps were made. A lot of the story could be preserved, but there's a lot that could be done to make it a more immersive and coherent experience.
