As you know, individual people's work belongs to them here at M:R so it is their call how they let their work be used. That said, I think the outcome of your project is very well worth the effort. I'd say that the hand-drawn illutrations fit the storybook idea better and they are all quite good...well done and it was definitely worth the sweat.
