Has anyone tried rotating the points 120 degrees anti-clockwise, then overlaying it over things? It seems to me that an anticlockwise rotation of 120 degrees would put the horizontal line at about where the supposed '3rd dimensional' axis is on the axes to the left of the diagram.

Also, the rotating by 120 * 7 is the same as rotating by just 120 (since 120 * 7 = 840 = 360 + 360 + 120 and a 360 degree rotation gets you back where you started). It's probably coincidental , but you never know...
