Chevron 7 was just a clue to lead us back to Earth. People kept trying to apply the puzzle to star maps and stuff.
But, your other ideas are still quite valid. And as we know, the whole World Map thing didn't quite work out... so it is probably something on a smaller scale. But, where? Hmmm. XD
