SPEAK YOUR MIND
"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free
to move?"
"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as
metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course,
the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom,
as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning.
Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

MI vs. MR, Weapons and numbers
Posted By: Grasshopper Date: 2001.10.23.12.53
I had a bit of fun with a stopwatch, M:R and Infinity last night, just to compare certain characteristics of weapons that had been nagging me.
Fire times. These numbers, in seconds, express the amount of time it takes for the weapon to completely discharge a full clip. Time is in seconds.
MR SMG 3.3
MI SMG 1.8
MR AR-bul 6.3 (!)
MI AR-bul 3.7
MR AR-gre 5
MR AR-gre 5
SPNK reload times are slightly off.
MR SPNKR 5
MI SPNKR 3.7
Finally, Frigidman's comments below about recoil got me to take a look at the recoil of certain weapons. The Magnum seems just about perfect. I agree with FM that the AR seems a bit "rough" and lacks the smoothness found in MI and regular UT. The only major discrepancy I noticed was with the SMG. Basically, the MR SMG has _about_ the same recoil as the MI AR, i.e. too much. And what happened to the sounds? M:R's first build had the original sounds which were fine, and ever since the new AR sounds were implemented, both weapons seem to "studder." Rather than shooting a high-tech fully automatic weapon, I sometimes feel I'm shooting an old gatling gun. :)
FWIW,
