: What is important to remember is that the reason this
: team exist is Marathon and we want to bring Marathon
: along with the rest of the new developments in game
: engine technology. Thus, what we miss and what we
: liked from the original Marathon will be reflected in
: what we do, however if we wanted to play the same old
: game..we simply...would.
My sentiments exactly, only in complete reverse. When I get the hankering to play Marathon single player, I just whip out my Mac. But Rhyn and I made Rampancy because we want to school people with our mad Marathon multiplayer skills. Hence the multiplayer carbon copy. Both takes on the situation are totally valid.
: There are differences regarding various aspects of the
: game even among team members, but that is a good
: thing. If we agreed on absoultely everything then we
: wouldn't be true..we'd be bullsh-ting. What it comes
: down to in the end, is to produce something that each
: and every one of us can be proud of and that is, MOST
: OF ALL, enjoyable to play.
This is true of Rampancy too. Rhyn and I are really polar opposites on certain issues, but the mod is still something we’re both proud of.
: So ultimately..comparisons are unavoidable, but mostly
: redundant. Comparing to M|R or Marathon Arena (Quake)
: or TacOps or Infiltration or God knows what is much
: beside the point. I urge you to try and experience M:R
: on it's own, and allow yourself to experience THIS
: game.
Exactly. Ditto for Rampancy. At a certain point, I’m going to start ignoring the Verses posts since I have a feeling this will become old hat really fast. I just don’t want the teams to take on an adversarial role because I think we may still benefit from a bit of code sharing further down the line.
