I think jumping should be in the game, but Fett has a good point about it making some parts of the game easier.

Maybe if the levels were edited slightly. Platforms made higher to account for the jumping would be the simplest solution, and if you want to add the tension of loosing health, then make that area of the level some sort of 'hot' thing.

I know you want to keep it close to Marathon, but if the game is going to be brought up to date you may need to make some changes for it to work.
