In your exuberance to play you probably didn't give the manual a read. The manual says that the Beta of Marathon:Resurrection does not have anything to fight -- it's provided as something to tour.
The upcoming Demo will include critters and whatnot on the three provided levels, and the final mod will include the whole single-player experience.
for now, enjoy the Multiplayer maps.

: i´ve installed the umod of marathon, but the levels
: seemed to be empty !i haven´t found an alien or
: something similar !i´ve "played" until the
: third jump-point, but the only things i´ve found were
