SPEAK YOUR MIND

"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free to move?"

"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

: I love the HUD, IIRC Wolfchild did that. Good job.
: Although I would like to see "powerups" in
: the hud too and the health bar goes transparent and
: not semi transparent (on my machine) when depleted, it
: is the nicest piece of HUD I have used in any recent
: games. It is useful and has style. (that and I like
: the motion sensor above all) :) Also I really like
: IAN's skins and the level design. Visually really
: nice.

Well since nobody has jumped on this yet...

I did the HUD. Thanks. The health/o2 bars are purposely made to go fully transparent when depleted. That's how the alpha channel is made (the whole HUD is esentially one large alpha with separate items for weapons, clips, health etc).

As far as incorporating even more info in the HUD...the chances are slim. It has already been a daunting task trying to fit everything we have in there AND make the HUD fit in a 640x480 frame as well as try and operate at far less than 1/3 of the screen (which is what Marathon did) since it would be shame to cover up that much of the screen in such a nice looking game. I suppose never say never, but realistically..that HUD already holds more info than we thought we could do and still be practical and usable.
