SPEAK YOUR MIND

"Does the distance one travels from center make one more free to move?"

"No. Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphor has two parts: form and interpretation. Of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom is being the bricoleur, the mason."

Marathon: Resurrection Forum

I'm not comparing them to each other

I hear you all saying that you aren't making a carbon copy. I wish you were. I think the idea of bringing the exact same Marathon feel to UT is entirely plausible. I would think that the point of making a marathon mod for UT would be to have similar graphics and to have the same firing rates, damage, reload rates, player speed, etc. It looks prettier in UT..and you can jump, and play with many more people over the internet. I mean when I play Resurrection or Rampancy, the skills I had when I played Marathon in LAN games don't apply. I mean some of the basic FPS shooter stuff does, but you can't use the same tactics because its different...damage that should have killed someone doesn't...they moved to fast and the rocket that was perfectly placed..wasn't. When I try to adapt to the game and get a little higher score...its like a whole new game..different from everything. None of the old "rules" apply. I'm not comparing Rampancy to Resurrection, I'm comparing them both to Marathon. And though they are both peices of high quality work, they don't compare to the feel and balance of Marathon.
